The Hidden Power of Words

Words are a powerful weapons with unimaginable power and potential. Your mouth can speak words that inspire, or enlighten people. With your same mouth, you can also decide to hurt, or discourage others. Our entire lives are built from words. Everyone has a voice that holds infinite power. Many people hide away from voicing their thoughts and beliefs, but those who take the risk and speak out, can have a huge influence. Robin Williams once explained that, “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” Once you decide to use your voice, you will see that your words hold the power to make changes in the world.

When words are spoken out of anger or frustration they can be completely destructive. Hurtful words are often spoken without any thought or consideration of what their effect will be. In cases where, people choose to say hurtful words regardless of the potential negative effects, their motives are most likely negative. It is easier to tear people down than build them up. Using words of discouragement can easily cause people to feel low, unwanted, or discontent. Often, it is the insults and nasty comments that stick within our minds the longest. With your words you can easily act carelessly and hurt someone. Sometimes you speak quickly with no thought and can deeply harm someone you love. Hurt enforced by words cannot always be immediately repaired. Some words can leave longterm scars. A simple thought or moment of discernment before you speak, may save yourself, along with others, from unnecessary pain. It is important to think before you speak, so you are able to use your words in positive ways rather than reckless ones.

Through using your words in a gentle and thoughtful manner, you have the power to encourage those around you. Positive words of encouragement and support can be extremely meaningful. People often allow the hurtful words from others consume their minds. Usually people have already heard enough discouraging words, and are in desperate need of encouragement. With your words you can decide to rebuild someone’s walls that were previously knocked down. Through taking the time to think and reflect before you speak, you are able to avoid any unnecessary conflict and hurt feelings. We most often do not regret saying words of encouragement to others, but rather, it is our harsh words we regret saying. Use your words to bring healing and comfort. You never know how far a compliment or positive comment could go. Words of kindness can be deeply restorative. Your words could be used to help someone see an ounce of sunshine on a rainy day.

Not only can words brighten someone’s day, but they can also empower people to initiate change. When people courageously speak out about what they believe, they are able to have a major influence. Think of influential icons throughout history such as, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Junior, and many others. These people chose to use their words to make the changes they desired to see happen in the world. If these people never spoke out, these changes would have never occurred. When words are used correctly, they can bring about unimaginable positive changes.

You must make the decision of how you desire to use your words. Words can hurt people, uplift people, and change people. Within your words there is incredible power. I believe it is best to speak the truth about what you believe in a loving way. Within my own life, I desire to use my words positively to support and encourage those I care about. I want to use the power of my words to act out good rather than evil. Make the decision to use your words to love rather than hate. It is essential to remember that words are powerful weapons that are often misused. Decide to use your words properly through bringing people healing, rather than more unwanted pain.

Treasuring Your Loved Ones

Source: https://awakenthegreatnesswithin.com/35-inspirational-quotes-on-family/

It is easy to sometimes feel like everyone is against you. Daily there is pressure put on you to perform, and fufil expectations. When you fail to accomplish what is expected of you, it can feel as if there is no one to support you. Oftentimes, people will appreciate you only when you are at your best. This reality causes you to each day feel like you have to put on a mask and try to be something that you are not. Friends may come and go depending on the circumstances, but your family and loved ones are often the ones who stick by you through the most difficult times.

For me personally, my family members are the most important people in my life. I have been deeply blessed to have strong and healthy relationships with my parents and sisters. My two older sisters are my closest friends. My family members are the people who know and love me for who I truly am. When I am with others, I can easily feel pressured to act a certain way, or try to please people. While I am with my family, these feelings melt away and I know I can be myself, because they accept me for who I am. Knowing that I have the constant support and love of my family, is so precious and important within my life. I honestly have no clue what I would ever do without my family.

Families love at all times. The bond between a family is far stronger and deeper than any other human connection. Our families see us at our worst of times and continue to love us. When we are with our families, we do not have to pretend to be something or someone we are not, but rather we can feel free to be ourselves. Regardless of the mess ups and mistakes you make in your life, your family is able to forgive you much easier than anyone else can. The unconditional love of family members can sometimes cause us to become blinded to its value in our lives. We can so easily get lost in the pressures of life, that we neglect to truly appreciate the ones that love us the most.

Despite my deep appreciation of my family, it can sometimes be easy to forget how precious they are. Life is often so busy that it can become overwhelming. In these moments where life is overflowing with responsibilities and obstacles, it is easy to forget to make time for those who are the dearest to you. Regardless of how busy life may get, it is important that you take the time to love and appreciate those who are the dearest to your heart. You truly never know what each day may bring, and you want to be certain that you have no regrets. Make sure that you show those you love deeply how much you appreciate and adore them.

I encourage you to always put time aside to be with your family. Life is always changing, and it is important that you treasure those you love. Family is a precious and beautiful gift. It is essential that you take the time and effort to preserve and protect the relationships you have between you and your family members. Just as a flower cannot grow without water, a family cannot grow stronger if it does not spend time together. Spending time with your family allows you to strengthen your bonds and build incredible memories. Make the effort to safeguard your relationships with your family members.

Live your life, so that you have no regrets or what ifs later on. Choose to cherish you family today and each day to come. Max Lucado put is beautifully through saying, “Love like there’s no tomorrow, and if tomorrow comes, love again.” Discover what it means to truly appreciate and love your family every single day. Before the day ends, settle any disputes or conflicts between you and those you love. The bonds between you and your loved ones are strong, and they will help you through the battles of life. Make the decision each day to love your family with your whole heart. Do not waste the precious time you have been given with those you love. When the roots of a family are strongly united, they cannot be broken by the world.

Be the Light and Shine Bright

This world can often feel like a dark and desolate place. You are constantly told on the news and of all hardships and evil in the world. There are countless amounts of people who are suffering, and there is an overwhelming amount of pain. It’s easy to view the darkness in the world as someone else’s fault. However, it is often just as easy to contribute to it. In life, we are often competing with each other rather than cheering each other on. People endlessly chase selfish pursuits regardless of those they hurt on the way. There is a huge problem with living to only benefit yourself; it makes the world a darker place. Our world does not need any more conflict, or darkness, rather, it needs more love and light.

Light brings hope. It illuminates the darkness that would otherwise remain hidden. The darkness will only make people’s live harden if we neglect to step in and shine our light. Being the light means many different things. I believe that being the light means letting your heart and soul shine goodness and light, despite the darkness that surrounds you. To be the light means being the better person, choosing to stand up to injustice, and deciding to love others when they need it the most. Being the light in a world that is often so dark, is completely counter cultural. Choosing to let your heart shine on is unexpected by others, but one hundred percent needed. We are in desperate need of more people that choose to shine their lives as a light to rescue, encourage, and enlighten others.

Being a light in the world is definitely a challenging task, but it is extremely powerful. Countless amounts of people are in desperate need of hope, and choosing to reach out to them can be completely life changing. There is so much good that can come from choosing to be the light that brightens the lives of those around you. Within my own life, I look to daily shine my light into the lives of those I encounter. I often make it my goal to treat people with kindness, and love. Each day, I desire to brighten the lives of those around me through serving them a compliment, helping them out, or simply giving them a smile. It is my mission to allow people to see light in my life. My faith has been my source of hope and light, and I want to spread this love to others. One hope of mine is, that people will see a difference in my life. I believe that being the light can encourage others to do the same.

When people spread the light to others it can influence those who experienced the light to spread it further. You have the potential to be the light to someone within your own life. People deal with enough discouragement and battles on their own. Almost always, people can use more love from others. I encourage you to seek for ways that you can be the light within your own life. You are placed where you are for a reason, so find out what that reason is. Learning to be the light is a different process for everyone. For some, being the light may be something simple such as, choosing to be a friend to someone who has been rejected by others. Sometimes, being the light can mean something big like, traveling across the world on a missions trip to help others. In other circumstances, being the light can be something as small as, smiling at someone you pass on the street.

What ever way you choose to brighten the lives of those around you, you will make a difference. Everyone can use more light within their own life. Martin Luther King Jr. put it simply by saying, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” The only way to overcome the darkness in the world is by exposing it to the light. Light and love can defeat the darkness and hate that attempt to consume us. This world has far too much hate and darkness, and it definitely does not need any more. Use the love and light within you to battle against the darkness that is around you. Light is a powerful weapon available for anyone to use. Despite how desperately this world hungers for light, many people neglect to shine it. Do not let your light go to waste; choose to be the light.

Embracing the Adventures of Life

I am sure you have been told to seize the day many times before, but what does this phrase truly mean? In my opinion, seizing the day looks different for everyone. Each person has their own unique way of expressing themself and embracing the adventures within his/her life. To me the phrase “carpe diem,” is all about doing the things in your life that you love the most. It is deciding to live rather than just exist. For some, this may mean focusing more on the activities they love the most. While for others, it may mean letting go of their fears and living life courageously.

We are often creatures of habit. It can be so tempting to live a life of routine and structure. When we live a life that is static and never changes, we are not embracing life, rather coasting through it. Sometimes it can feel scary to step out and make the most of the day ahead, but you will never know if you don’t try. I honestly believe that some of the biggest regrets in life are the amazing adventure and oppourtunities we shy away from. In life people so often try to protect themselves from pain or failure that they neglect to seize the day. When you choose to let go of what ever is holding you back, you are able to experience a whole new world of colour.

Many people journey through life with their eyes closed. Each person has their own barriers that hold them back from truly living. Within my own life, I can sometimes let the fear of rejection from others, or the fear of failure hold me back. These barriers cause us to miss out on the many exciting explorations and journeys that are available. The first step to embracing life is acknowledging the obstacles within your own life that are stopping you from living the vibrant life you were created to live. Once you have discovered what causes you to hold yourself back, you are able to overcome your barriers and knock them down.

Freedom is found in refusing to let yourself fall victim to a life of missed oppourtunities. Make the decision today to embrace your imagination and make the best of each moment. Sometimes seizing the day is not going on a crazy adventure, but rather doing what you love to do. Live a life that you enjoy, one that excites your soul. Oftentimes we forget to treasure the smaller blessings in our lives like the sunshine and moments with loved ones. These special moments and gifts need to be fully embraced and valued. For everyone embracing the day will look different, but no matter how you choose to do it, you will know once you have seized the day. When you choose to seize the day you will feel truly alive.

Orison Swett Marden once said, “Don’t wait for extraordinary oppourtunities. Seize common occasions and make them great. Weak [men/women] wait for oppourtunities; strong [men/women] make them.” Learning to live in the moment and embrace the day you have been given is not always easy or simple, but it is liberating and freeing. True strength and victory is found in treasuring the day you are given and refusing to live an ordinary and static life. Learn to live a life that is full of the people and activities that make you happy. If there are not oppourtunities available, make them.

No one knows how many days they have left to live. Knowing how fragile life is, choose to seize every moment you are blessed with. Do not let yourself live with regrets. Make the decision today to daily uncover the beauty in life and live a life of meaning and purpose. Choose to do the things you love and enjoy every minute of your adventure through life.

Do Not Live a Life That is Fixed, Be Brave and Take a Risk

Doing what feels safe and requires no risks can often feel like the best way to live your life. Without putting yourself out there, or taking risks, you do not have to worry about getting hurt. The problem with this lifestyle is, you are not letting yourself grow or reach your full potential. Living a life of safety, comfort, and control can seem like the smartest lifestyle, but in all honesty, it is only holding you back from all the world has to offer you. Your comfort zone can feel like the perfect place to be, but it restricts you from the many beautiful opportunities and challenges that are awaiting you. Your character is able to develop the most when you challenge yourself outside of your comfort zone.

I myself am the type of person that does not look to be the center of attention in a room. Personally, I prefer to be in small groups of people, rather than large ones. When I am in a large group, I can easily become nervous when the attention is put on me. In the past I have tried to avoid social situations where there are large groups of people. When I avoid what makes me nervous, and stick to what makes me feel good, I realize is that I do not grow as a person. It is through the situations in my life that stretch me the most, that I am able to grow.

This past summer I went on a missions trip to Poland. During my time overseas I took on leadership opportunities and worked with large groups of people. During the trip, I was also often put on the spot and stretched outside of my comfort zone. I also had to be away from my family. These various aspects of the trip initially made me feel nervous. Although some parts of the trip seemed a little daunting, they helped me grow. The unknown appeared intimidating and scary at first, but once I took the leap, I felt my confidence strengthen. I feel as though my experiences outside of my comfort zone, including my missions trip, have allowed me to grow and develop my character.

Sometimes when you take risks you may not succeed right away, but it is important to not let you yourself become discouraged. Everyone messes up, or feels embarrassed sometimes. You can not expect that everything in life will come easy to you. When we push ourselves to take risks by trying new things, we are able to develop more into the people we are designed to be. Without stepping beyond the familiar, you will never challenge yourself. There are multitudes of challenging and exciting opportunities and adventures awaiting you. This world has so much to offer and it would be a shame to let fear limit your potential. Choose to embrace the beautiful journeys that are calling your name. It is essential that you take positive risks. You will never know if you do not try. When you avoid taking risks, you miss out on incredible opportunities. The way I see it, you risk more by not taking risks.

Live is far too short to live trapped in a comfort zone. Helen Keller once explained that, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” If you never put yourself out there or try new things, your life will be restricted. Making the decision to step beyond the familiar can be freighting at first, but it allows you to open your eyes to the many areas of life you are currently missing out on. Do not limit yourself, but instead, broaden your horizons. You were not meant to live a static life that never changes. Rather, you were meant to live an incredible life filled with new and fresh possibilities. The worst that can happen is you fall, but remember you can always get up again. Today choose to say yes to taking the first magnificent new adventure that comes your way.

Feeling Free to Be Yourself

Source: https://www.success.com/15-brave-quotes-to-inspire-you-to-be-yourself/

I sincerely wonder why it often feels so scary and difficult to freely be ourselves. People are always desiring acceptance from others and this most often leads people to forget who they truly are. How many times have you changed something about yourself in an attempt to make those around you accept you? It can feel intimidating and challenging to be content with who you are when you feel different from those around you.

Society is constantly pushing for conformity. We are told over and over again that we need to look and act a certain way. Instead of being treasured for our own unique qualities, we are told to try to be like someone else. People grow up believing that who they are is not good enough. We place unrealistic goals on ourselves in an attempt to please everyone around us and feel completely accepted. Let me tell you that these ideals are far from reality. When you spend all your time trying to please others you forget to please yourself. You are enough just the way you are, so do not try to be like someone else. It is also important to remember that it is impossible to please everyone or feel completely accepted. There will always be people that do not value you enough. No one has ever been able to have everyone accept them. True value is found in being who you truly are.

Oscar Wilde put it simply by saying, “be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” We will never be able to perfectly act like someone else. Each person is the best one at being themself. Everyone has been blessed with their own unique qualities and talents. It is easy to look at those around you and come up with a long list of character traits and ablilites you wish you had. What if the person you envy was thinking the same about you? When you spend time wishing you could be like someone else you miss out on the beautiful qualities that make you, you. Almost everyone is much harder on themselves than they are on those around them. It’s good to have a healthy level of self-reflection, but often people can become too hard on themselves. We all need to work harder at appreciating and loving ourselves despite our faults.

Nobody has everything together. At times it can appear like someone is perfect, but that is a twisted and unrealistic idea. Everyone makes mistakes and falls short sometimes. It is okay to mess up, or to be different. Do not be too hard on yourself. We spend too much time tearing ourselves and those around us down. It is time we start building ourselves and those around us up with encouragement. When you change yourself to try and please people, it will only leave you unhappy and empty. Make the decision to love yourself the way you are despite what other people think.

In life you will learn, grow, and develop. Through your many experiences you are able to become a better person. It is important that through the times of growth you never forget who you are. Maya Angelou once said, “I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.” Let your journies in life allow you to flourish more into the person you were created to be. As you blossom never let this world dim your true self. Freely be yourself and celebrate the uniqueness of yourself and those around you. Be content with being one of a kind. After all a one of a kind is far more valueable than a copy.

Reduce Stress, Worry Less

Source: http://www.returningtooneness.com/why-do-i-worry-so-much-and-how-to-stop-worrying/#sthash.jCqoiHYr.dpbs

Worry and fear can be utterly crippling to the mind and soul. How often do we let worry and stress trap our minds in the what ifs of life? There are loads of expectations and responsibilities we have to carry each day. With constant pressure enforced upon us, it is increasingly tempting to become a victim of fear and worry. It often seems next to impossible to resist the urge of letting stress and worry take over.

We often give worry and stress too much of our time and focus. There has been countless times that I have worried or stressed about something that ended up being much less daunting and scary than I first anticipated it to be. Thomas Jefferson put it simply when he asked the question, “How much pain have cost us the evils that never happened?” We commonly decide that the best solution to our problems is to worry or stress about them. Sometimes we let ourselves become slaves to fear. The worries that overcomes us can end up being completely unesseccary. In reality fear only makes us endure further hardships and burdens.

It is interesting to reflect upon why we let ourselves resort to worry and stress on a regular basis. I myself so easily dwell on my uncertainties, and let worries captivate my thoughts despite the fact that my worrying only makes me feel worse. As humans our instinctive response to trouble and pressure is worry and fear. Although we regularly resort to fear, it never seems to fix any of our problems. Choosing to fear does not guarantee us success nor solve our problems. When you truly think about it, fear is not a problem solver, but a problem multiplier. Worrying and stressing about problems only makes them that much more unbearable.

Fear causes us to make our situations seem far more bleak and uncertain than they actually are. It is already difficult enough to get a clear perspective in life. By choosing to stress, it only further clouds your judgement and makes your situations look worse than they are. When you give into fear it does you more harm than good. Worrying about tomorrow only holds you back from embracing the precious gifts of today.

In order to break free from the chains of worry and stress you need to replace your fearful thoughts with encouraging and hopeful ones. Do not let your mind resort to the worse cansenario. Instead of thinking about the worst that can happen, think about the good things that could happen. The future can be overwhelming when you think about it all at once. Rather than tackling everything at once, try taking life one day at a time. There are simple ways to reduce the worry and stress in your life if you are only willing to rework your mindset.

I believe that no good comes from worrying in life, but there is a whole lot of good that comes from saying no to worry. It may seem hard to refuse to fear, but in the end you will see that it is definitely worth it.

Positively Optimistic

Optimism is choosing to see the good in life rather than dwelling on the bad. It is becoming increasingly easy to feel discouraged in life. Everyone faces their own failures, pain, and hardships. If you are not careful you can let these feelings take over. Through being optimistic, you are able to overcome the negativity in your life with the goodness of optimism.

I would consider myself an optimist. I see true value in celebrating the goodness in life while also helping contribute to it. It is extremely important to make the best out of what you have been given. There are far too many people who already allow themselves to become consumed with everything that is going wrong in the world. People also often easily fall into contributing to the darkness themselves. This world has enough darkness on its own, and I believe choosing to see the beauty and light in life is increasingly important.

There are always hidden reasons to smile if you look hard enough to find them. I have learned that no good comes from drenching your thoughts with your downfalls, mistakes, and unfulfilled dreams. Feeling sorry for yourself or your situation, does not fix any of your problems. When you become consumed by negative thoughts, it only leaves you feeling more alone and hopeless in life. The only way to escape the negative thoughts that are swirling around in your mind, is to replace them with optimistic ones.

In life people will forever be able to discover the many reasons to feel discouraged or disappointed with their lives. It is simple to resort to a negative viewpoint on the world. However, it takes a unique and spectacular individual to practice optimism despite the temptation to give in to pessimism. People are in desperate need of positivity in their lives. Through seeing the world in a brighter light, it is radically uplifting and empowering. When people decide that they will embrace the goodness in life they are provided with the drive to carry on courageously. Far too much time is spent worrying, regretting, and focusing on the darkness. There is satisfaction found in choosing to smile when others may cry, and opening your eyes to the light while others remain blinded by the darkness.

Within my own life, I find true strength through my decision to remain positive despite my situation. Optimism is contagious. It not only enlightens you, but those who are around you too. I make it my mission to look on the bright side of life. Why not brighten your own life along with those around you? I often make it my goal to help uncover people’s eyes to see the treasures in life along with being the reason they smile. The way I see it, this world is overloaded with negativity, it does not need any more. However, it is in desperate need of more positivity. Sometimes it does not seem like there is a reason to smile, but sometimes you have to discover your own reason.

In closing, Martin Luther once declared that, “even if I knew tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.” Optimism is finding reasons to choose joy and smile even when your circumstances tell you not to. True character and strength is found in a person who practices optimism by continuing to hope in any and every situation that life throws at them. I encourage you to join me in the journey of embracing optimism within your own life, along with spreading positivity into the lives of those around you.

Practicing Patience

Source: http://bluechandrawellness.com/2018/05/29/patience/

Jean-Jacques Rousseau once explained that, “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” Within the fast paced world we live in patience can sometimes feel like the last way we want to respond to our troubles and challenges. We are constantly being told that we need to act fast, be right, and always win. The problem with neglecting patience and acting carelessly is that you miss all life has to offer. When was the last time you resisted the urge to immediately react, or retaliate and instead chose to be patient? Being patient is completely opposite to how this world expects you to act. Although being patient can seem freighting and unfamiliar, it is truly powerful. Acting out patience in your life will yield beautiful results.

Being patience is like crafting a work of art. Every exceptional piece of art takes hours of work and dedication. There may be some mistakes along the way, but the end result is a priceless masterpiece. An artist is not able to create a precious piece of art if they do not work at it. Being patient can feel like a long journey to perfecting a piece of art, but in the end it is truly fulfilling. You cannot expect to achieve your largest dreams or aspirations over night, but if you focus and truly pursue them, they can slowly flourish within you. Making improvements in your life requires a patient and calm spirit. Patience is waiting even when you feel like sprinting. Nothing worthwhile in life can be crafted in a moment. It is so tempting to run through life, but I believe it is important to take a step back to listen, to grow, and to learn. Just like a piece art, your life needs patience in order to reach its full potential.

In life it is necessary that we maintain patience even while in the midst of the many responsibilities and challenges we carry. Discovering patience is healthy for our pursuits, work, and relationships. I have found that in my own life being patient both calms and steadies me. Patience stretches people to resist the urge to stress, give in, rush, or overreact. Through pursuing patience you can take a moment to reflect and to wait. By no means is it easy to be patient, as it often feels like the world is surrounding you with reasons to do the complete opposite. Although it is difficult to be patient, I whole heartily challenge you to strive for it.

Within our present culture people are always wanting to achieve victory in winning arguments or being right. When you think about it, is having the last word in an argument really all that rewarding, does it teach you anything? My answer would have to be no. However, choosing patience while in arguments can be completely freeing. Imagine what would happen if the next time you are on the verge of an argument with someone you listen, pause, regain your thoughts and respond with words of love and wisdom rather than anger and selfishness. Patience allows you to think before you speak. Being patient enables you to be the bigger person, and that in itself speaks volumes. When you take the time to be patient you will find how surprisingly satisfying and healing it can be.

Everyday I wear a bracelet on my wrist that has a small bumble bee engraved on it with the words “be patient” written above it. I treasure this bracelet just as I treasure patience in my everyday life. I wear this bracelet as a reminder of the value of being patient in my life. Each day I want to strive for patience because I know that although it can at moments taste “bitter,” in the end the outcome will be “sweet.”

Living a Life of Contentment

Oftentimes people busy their schedules, load up their calenders, and overload their lives with plans. People are constantly striving and seeking for more in life. How often do we dream about the future and miss what is right in front of us? It is not terrible to look forward to the exciting events in life that are ahead, but when these thoughts start to dominate your mind, they can become dangerous.

I am headed to university next year. The thought of moving away and starting my next stage in life can be both exciting and intimidating. If I am not careful I can let these thoughts absorb all of my attention and thoughts. In spending my life anticipating and worrying about the future I am blinded from the beauty in my life right now. Each stage of life you are in has its own blessings hidden within it. If you take the time to be still and breathe you may be surprised to discover all you miss in life. Each day we live and every breath that we breathe are gifts. We need to live with this truth secure in our minds.

As humans we not only remain fixated on the future, but we long for the past, the way our life once was. Often I am guilty of this as well. I sometimes wish I could go back to when I was a child, living carefree, without an ounce of stress in my body or mind. Childhood is a treasured time in life, but what ever stage you are at now is just as precious. When people remember the past they often glorify it, forgetting all the negative experiences and only remembering the positive ones. Each part of our lives has its benefits and its downfalls. Finding contentment is about choosing to focus on the parts of life we are thankful for, rather than obsessing over the areas we would like to change.

I believe that contentment is a personal choice, rather than a result of desired circumstances. If you let your desires determine whether or not you are happy in life, you will be on an eternal search for something that does not exsist. It is interesting to think about how many times those who have the least are the most content in life. Our wealth and material comforts make us ungrateful, and hungry for more. People cannot find contentment in a stage of life, nor in success, nor money. Contentment is found from within. Every person can feel content in their life if they only take the time to quite themselves and choose to see the light in life.

Don Herold once said, “Unhappiness is not knowing what we want and killing ourselves to get it.” Sometimes we do not even know what truly makes us happy, so we endlessly chase after empty pursuits. If you believe that contentment and happiness can be earned or purchased, you will forever be discontent. Contentment is a decision each individual must chose to pursue. Look inside yourself and ponder all the treasures your life already has.

Today and forever I encourage you to choose contentment.
